Jessica Salinas was born in 1980 in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. After graduating with a BA from the school of visual arts of the UANL, she started contributing her paintings to collective shows and was promptly recognized as part of an important group of emerging women artists.
Since 1999 she has led painting workshops for youth or adults. In 2010 she participated in an opening along with other artists at Nodal Art Gallery in New York and actually are preparing a new Exhibith in 2011. Currently she teaches painting at TEP (Taller de Experimentación Plástica- Experimental Studio of Sculpture), while continuing to produce new experimental work.
Jessica has stretched the boundaries of an artist’s palette through her use of different and unique materials including making sculptures with crystal, resin and polyurethane. She has recently become fascinated with making minature paintings illustrating peculiar personalities in the midst of unusual and unlikely settings.
